Are You Making A Big Car Seat Mistake?

Car seats are big business for new parents. Studies say that at least 80% of car seats are used incorrectly. The biggest mistakes people make are loose straps, incorrect installation, or using the wrong seat for their child's age/size. Car seats can be very complicated, so checking with sites like Safe Kids Car Seat Check can ensure your children are safe. Some of the biggest mistakes are:

1. The seatbelt was fastened over the child and seat, but the harness was not used.
2. Infant seats installed forward-facing, sometimes in the front seat of a truck.
3. Toolboxes and/or tools unrestrained in the back of the car.
4. Infants in forward-facing car seats.
5. Driving in parking lots with baby on passenger's lap.
6. Seat installed with anything other than the seatbelt or latch.

Even the most safety-conscious person can make one of these mistakes. Do your research and always double check when the car seat is moved.
