Baby Equipment Safety Tips

When buying baby equipment consumers are looking for safety and stability. It is important to look for the seal of approval from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (http://www.cpsc.gov), and to examine the baby equipment carefully to make sure the product is stable and free of safely hazards. The Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (http://www.jpma.org) has additional guidelines you may want to review. Here are some general tips to follow when purchasing baby equipment:

1. Examine all parts of the equipment by running your fingers along each part the baby may come in contact with. Rough surfaces can be dangerous along with surfaces that can get too hot in the sun.

2. Check all hinges, springs, and moving parts to make sure baby's hand, feet, fingers, or toes cannot get pinched or caught.

3. Make sure all small parts, straps, and coverings are fastened securely.

4. When assembling all baby equipment, make sure to follow the manufacturer's directions exactly as outlined.

How To Avoid Meltdowns While Traveling With Baby

Traveling with your baby can quite a task. Preparing lists, gathering everything necessary for the trip then getting to your destination. Oh yes, all Moms have been there. Planning ahead and making checklists can be very helpful to make sure you've packed all of your baby equipment. Here are some helpful tips to help ease your next trip.

1. Pack smart. Make sure you pack extra clothes, diapers, wipes, etc. Anti-bacterial wipes come in very handy in a dirty airport.
2. Get up and take a walk on the airplane. Kids and babies get restless after sitting too long.
3. Asking a neighbor to help. Many people love to hold your adorable baby while you fish around your bag for items. You'd be surprised at how helpful the average person can be.
4. Rent large baby equipment to be delivered to your destination. This not only saves money, but eases the hassle of lugging large items around the airport. Most baby rental companies will deliver car seats, cribs, booster seats, strollers, etc. directly to the airport, hotel or home.
